Chase
56Swiftly the young woman turned the corner panting from the chase. She crouches down and leans against the cold marble wall praying that her pursuer failed to see her. She leans out to see a empty street, then with horror she ducks her head back behind the corner. Click-Clack, click-clack, click-clack, she hears his footsteps on the frozen concrete. Click-clack, click-clack, click-clack, she holds her breath and and shuts her eyes tightly uttering a silent prayer. Click. She lets out a quiet sigh of relief, and then she smells it. His sickeningly sweet breath, she holds her fast to the wall clenching her eyes shut and lets out a soft pained moan. She feels the cold leather of his glove softly embrace her face. But before she can say anything, he speaks in a soft fatherly tone, "my turn to hide now sweetie." she looks up at him with a quiet disdain on her face and says with the lisp of a young child, "You cheated daddy let me hide again." And so the chase continued.
